Silky Shark

The silky shark gets its name from its skin, whose small dermal denticles give it a silky touch. Pelagic and social, it often forms large groups at the surface and in open waters, especially around wrecks and buoys. In the deep Red Sea and off Sudan and Egypt, the drifts organized by DUNE allow for exceptional encounters with these agile and curious sharks. It is also one of the most frequently observed species during dives in the Maldives.
