The MV Zenobia was a Swedish ro-ro ferry fresh from the shipyard, on its first commercial voyage from Sweden to Syria. On June 7, 1980, it began listing off Larnaca due to a computer problem in the ballast pumping system. Despite several correction attempts, the ship sank the following day. Fortunately, the entire crew was saved. The cargo consisted of 104 trucks and semi-trailers, much of which is still visible in the open holds. The Zenobia became a symbol for diving in the Eastern Mediterranean.
