Giant Grouper

The giant grouper, or Epinephelus lanceolatus, is the largest grouper in the world and can reach 2.7 meters and 400 kg. An apex predator of tropical reefs, it is territorial and solitary, usually inhabiting the same crevices for years. It can be found in the Red Sea, Maldives, Polynesia, and Australia. During DUNE dives, encountering a giant grouper in its cave is always a moment of tension and wonder for divers.
