Dugong

The dugong, the only living representative of the Dugongidae family, is a herbivorous marine mammal that lives exclusively in the seagrass beds of the Indo-Pacific coasts. Heavier than the manatee, it can weigh up to 400 kg. In the Red Sea, off the Egyptian coast and in the Gulf of Aden, populations of dugongs persist. DUNE organizes dives in protected areas of the Red Sea where encounters with these discreet animals remain possible for the most patient divers.
