Guitar Ray

The guitar ray — or common rhinobatos — is an atypical elasmobranch halfway between a shark and a ray. Its flattened body and triangular snout give it its characteristic guitar-shaped silhouette. It spends its days buried in the sand of coastal bottoms, leaving only its eyes protruding. In the Red Sea, along the Egyptian and Saudi Arabian coasts, DUNE guides its divers to shallow sandy areas to observe this discreet and little-known species, often confused with an ordinary ray.
