Loggerhead Turtle

The loggerhead turtle is the largest hard-shelled turtle in the world and the most common in the Mediterranean. With its reddish-brown shell and massive head adapted for crushing hard prey (crabs, mollusks, octopuses), it is easily recognizable. In the Mediterranean, its presence in the waters of Malta, Menorca, and the calanques remains an exciting and increasingly rare encounter. DUNE trains its guides in the respectful observation of sea turtles in all its destinations.
