Parrotfish

The peacock parrotfish is one of the most colorful fish in the Mediterranean. The adult male displays spectacular turquoise, orange, and green coloration, while females and juveniles are brown with stripes. Like all parrotfish, the peacock parrotfish is a sequential hermaphrodite: dominant females can become males. In Malta and Menorca, these fish evolve into small groups in shallow coral rocks - a delight for underwater photographers accompanying DUNE.
